The director of GDRFA, Lt Gen Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, said, “The goal is not to restrict residents but to remind them to pay their fines. The system allows flexibility according to each case.”
The system is user-friendly, as it has been tested on thousands of cases before launching it. Upon their arrival, the civil servants will guide the residents through the process of payment and, in some cases, will be allowed to pay in installments.
Currently, the system is in pilot phase and has not been applied across the board. For example, it does not apply at the GDRFA centre of Dubai Airport.
