UAE Starts One-Step Emirates ID Renewal System

UAE starts one-step Emirates ID renewal system for UAE citizens, eliminating the need to fill in extra fields such as home address and information acquired from the database. The ICP announced the service on Tuesday, allowing citizens to renew or replace their Emirates ID in a straightforward step, instead of several steps.

As part of the second phase of the Zero Bureaucracy Program, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security turned the service into a single-step procedure to reduce paperwork and save time for citizens.

Applicants now only need to submit their request and the required fees. The system automatically sets the validity period based on the age of the applicant, following the same method used for UAE passports, WAM news reported.

The new system automatically determines the validity period of the card based on the age of the applicant.

If a UAE citizen is 21 years old or above, they will get their Emirates ID card with 10 years’ validity, while for those under 21, the validity will be five years. For replacement cards, the validity is the same as the time left on their current ID, and applicants can not change it.

The new one-step renewal and replacement system is available on all ICP service channels.
